Project Information

  • Category: Natural Language Processing
  • Client: Data Dynamos
  • Project Date: March 2023

Description

EduNLP is an advanced educational tool designed to help students manage information overload by summarizing lecture content, generating questions, extracting keywords, and retrieving relevant information from large datasets. Developed by the Data Dynamos team, this tool uses state-of-the-art Natural Language Processing (NLP) algorithms to process lecture transcripts efficiently and provide key insights for students.

Key Features

  • Summarization: Extracts the core message from lectures to help students grasp essential points quickly.
  • Question and Answering: Generates and answers questions based on lecture content, aiding in exam preparation.
  • Keyword Extraction: Identifies and highlights key terms from lectures for better focus and memorization.
  • Question Generation: Creates relevant questions from lecture materials to test comprehension.
  • Information Retrieval: Allows students to search through lecture materials for specific topics or questions.

Methodology and Data Pipeline

The tool processes lecture data through a multi-step pipeline:

  • Data Ingestion: Collects lecture transcripts from YouTube videos and recorded classes.
  • Data Processing: Cleans and corrects the transcripts using T5 and GPT-3 models to remove errors and stop words.
  • NLP Models: Applies various NLP techniques for information retrieval, summarization, keyword extraction, and question generation.
  • Visualization: Provides user-friendly interfaces using Plotly/Dash and Streamlit to interact with the processed data.

Benefits

EduNLP enhances the learning experience by making it easier for students to manage and understand large volumes of lecture content. This tool not only improves academic performance but also saves time, allowing students to focus on essential information. By leveraging cutting-edge NLP technology, EduNLP is poised to transform how students interact with educational materials.
